Tax Official Arrested with Rs 2.6 Million at Nepalgunj Airport

Janaki: A government official was arrested with Rs 2.6 million at the Nepalgunj Airport in Banke district on Monday.

The official, identified as Khagendra Sapkota, works at the Inland Revenue Office at Tulasipur, Dang. He was flying to Kathmandu from a Shree Airlines flight when he was arrested by the security personnel at the airport.

The security personnel confiscated the amount from Sapkota's bag after they found it to be unaccounted for. Sapkota's colleague Deepak Poudel, who was also with him at the airport, is absconding.

Sapkota has been taken into custody at the District Police Office for further investigation.

The police are trying to find out the source of the money and why Sapkota was carrying it. They are also investigating the involvement of Poudel in the case.

The arrest of Sapkota has raised questions about the corruption in the government offices. It is also a reminder of the need for strict enforcement of the laws against corruption.

The police have urged anyone with information about the case to come forward.
